Get to know me…

Welcome to my portfolio! My name is Tia Adam- an aspiring UI/UX designer and graphic designer from British Columbia, Canada.

I’ve always been deeply interested in psychology and in understanding what drives human behavior. This passion led me to pursue a degree in psychology at Simon Fraser University, where I had the opportunity to meet people from diverse backgrounds and explore a wide range of subjects. Although that journey at SFU was something I ultimately decided to cut short, through it I gained a clearer sense of who I am and what I’m passionate about.

That understanding brought me to where I am today: a graduating student at British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT) with certificates in both Graphic Design and UI/UX Design. I especially love the research, and innately psychology-based, side of both fields. Whether it’s uncovering what makes a design engaging and meaningful or identifying user pain points and finding thoughtful ways to improve their experience.

What do I like to do?

A little bit of everything, honestly! I’m very lucky to have been introduced to many unique and interesting communities over the years through friends, family, and my own journey of personal growth. You’d be hard-pressed to find a topic I wouldn’t be interested in learning more about or trying, but I certainly have a few favourites.

Photography, Arts, & Crafts

I have always enjoyed exploring different art mediums, from painting to pottery to crocheting. The ones that have really stuck with me over the years though are photography, knitting, and digital art.

Sports

Rogers Arena, just before a Canucks game.

Since I was little, I have been a huge fan of hockey and softball- both sports which I played for several years and still follow to this day (go Canucks, go!).

Outdoor Activities

When you live in a place as beautiful as BC it’s hard to not grow up with a love and appreciation for nature. Nothing will make a person feel better than a walk in a park, a hike along a trail, or camping during the long weekends and hot summer nights.

You can also pretty regularly catch me out fishing, whether it be out on the lakes or on the ocean!
